Remember to return or pay for any missing library books or Book in a Bag books! Students who do not have this taken care of will have to miss Field Day, which is one of the days these kids look forward to most!
Please remind your students to be nice to their classmates. Many of my students are kind all the time and this should be celebrated. Those who are struggling are showing me they need more guidance. I am aware of what is going on and the team at school is helping by providing social skills instruction. I teach a different social skills lesson each Monday during rotations and our amazing counselor is providing lessons in class as well.
This is the time of year when kids can earn Good Job tickets! There is a big assembly at the end of the year where all the Good Job tickets are put into a drawing and the kids can earn fantastic prizes! If your child is struggling to earn these tickets, talk with him/her and come up with a plan on how to earn them. Encourage your child to let me know about their plan so I can make sure to watch for it.
RISE testing starts on Tuesday next week! First is literacy, and the math test will be taken on Thursday. Now is the time to practice reading, math facts, and review!
We are working on a Reader's Theater play this week! It is called The Memory Quilt and it is a review chapter. Because it is a review chapter, there are no spelling words.
3rd grade DIBELS testing is coming up! This is the most important reading test in 3rd grade. PLEASE practice timing your student for one minute and marking their end point. Read the same passage every night to track improvements.
We did not do well on our area and perimeter test, so I know we need more practice! We are going to get through the chapter on geometry and then practice area and perimeter again. The main issue I see is that it is difficult to find missing sides of figures. I will have my students retake the test after reviewing.
We are continuing to work on our Wax Museum research! We will also team up with Mrs. Pawlowski's homeroom to reinforce math concepts.
