We are continuing our small groups for direct instruction. This will allow your student to receive more help in his/her areas of struggle. We are reading about the pink river dolphin. We are also reading Loser by Jerry Spinelli. We are working on writing a fun story. We will be starting a coding workshop so students can write stories and use code. This will combine writing with computer science!
Our readathon is on Friday! Students may bring blankets (even large, even multiple-for a fort!), a snack, a flashlight, a small stuffed animal OR pillow, and books, books, books! Chapter books would be best, but picture books are also welcome. If your child does well with audiobooks to listen to while following along, iPods or iPads with audiobooks are also welcome.
We are finishing up our chapter on division this week! Our test will be on Friday. Please make sure your student has completed his/her homework. There are two on multiplication (one general, one story problem) and two on division from the book.
We are rocking it with rocks! Students are starting to memorize common rocks and minerals. We now know that erosion is the movement of rocks and sediments and weathering is the breaking of rocks.
