Tuesday is the 100th day of school! Woohoo! My students are encouraged to dress up as if they are 100 years old. My literacy class will write stories about being 100 to go along with their outfits. I hope to see lots of slippers, white hair, suspenders, robes, and wrinkles!
We are continuing to gather information for our animal reports. We will hopefully finish the organization and writing of our essays this week! This has been a huge project and those kids have worked hard on it! Students will have homework to go along with their reports. This will be showing more about their animals to the class, which can include a diorama, a sculpture, writing a children's book, a PowerPoint presentation, a puppet show, writing a poem, and more. A full list will be sent home. You can also find it here.
You are invited to watch your student present his/her animal to the class! Please sign up here to guarantee your child's turn to present at a time you can watch.
We are reading The One and Only Ivan for our novel study. We are working on plurals this week.
Our spelling words this week are:
In math, we are reviewing all the chapters we have gone over so far, finishing our chapter on multiplying double-digit numbers, and we are starting our chapter on dividing by a one-digit number.
We are continuing to learn about rocks and we are going to shift more into fossils! We are going to start talking more about our service learning project and we will start planning for it.
