This week is a short week! Students do not have school on Thursday or Friday.
Halloween: Wednesday morning we will start with our Halloween party at 8:15 am. After that, we will have our normal schedule of literacy, Spanish, and lunch. All third graders will then go to Mrs. Pawlowski's class for a Halloween activity. This is to give me time to set up my Witch's Brew!
At 12:45-1:00 or so, all third graders will come into my classroom to watch my Witch's Brew performance and to be my next victims--I mean, taste testers. When we are finished, we will break into homeroom classes to have our Halloween parties!
Jennica Welch, our amazing class captain, sent out a Sign Up Genius so you can help out with our party. You can find it HERE.
We need one more volunteer to run a craft during the party! I would also love a parent volunteer in the morning to set up our healthy snacks for the day. This will be cutting bananas in half and putting chocolate chips on them as eyes and mouths and picking a small part of a clementine off to put some celery in the top to be pumpkins. I love for my students to be able to eat healthy snacks all day so they're too full for a ton of candy.
We are working on the essential question, "How do people make government work?" Our comprehension strategy is to reread. We will not have spelling words this week due to it being a short week and because of Halloween.
We are doing some fun Halloween-themed math activities this week. My class figured out a math mystery and they did great!
We are going to be doing an estimation/investigation activity tomorrow during homeroom. We will observe a pumpkin, decide if it is living or nonliving, and estimate how many seeds are inside. The person with the closest estimate will get to keep the pumpkin.
