We are working on the essential question, "Why is working together a good way to solve a problem?" This includes a fable about Anansi the spider and some shorter fables in small groups. We are writing our own scary stories to share with the class. My students are struggling with writing (especially editing), but they are doing a great job getting their words down on the paper/computer this time around! Scary stories are highly motivating right now. My students are more than welcome to work on them at home, too. They may write on a piece of paper or on Utah Compose.
We are working on subtraction this week. I can see that we need a lot of practice with regrouping, so I do suggest doing the homework from our subtraction chapter.
Our science class is working on learning about animals from the past and present and how they fit into ecosystems.
Our social studies goal is to understand how humans interact with different animals and ecosystems.
Our social skills goal is to understand "Look and Decide" to make a good behavior choice when coming into a social scene and deciding when it is appropriate to interrupt.
