Hello! My name is Angie Rohr. I started teaching in 2013 and I came to Wasatch Peak in 2017. I taught resource and language intervention in Park City for the 2013-2014 school year and 2nd and 3rd grade at Spectrum Academy up the street. I have previously taught grades K-9, ranging from typical learners to kids with high-functioning autism to kids with moderate/severe disabilities. I have helped my mom teach her class my entire life and was able to run her groups around age 8. I earned my undergraduate degree in mild/moderate special education at the University of Utah and my master's degree in elementary education at Utah State University. I also have an endorsement in English as a Second Language and another in mathematics.

I love art, animals, and nature. I have a giant dog named Milo and 5 kitties: Pixie, Bianca, Luna, Juniper, and Zinnia. I also foster cats! This means I take care of them until they get adopted into their forever families. I generally take in a litter of kittens each spring and I have helped more than 50 kitties find their forever homes. If your family could use a couple of kittens, let me know! I love to read, I think math is awesome, and I write for fun. My life is full of drawing, painting, crocheting, and other arts and crafts. I like to travel, cook, and garden. It is so much fun to grow my own food. Teaching is the best way to spend time, and I am excited to see every student in my class succeed this year!

My Teaching Philosophy

I believe in a positive classroom management system. I know that students work and learn best when most words they hear are positive. I try to compliment students a lot and make sure they know I appreciate it when they work hard. I know it is better to compliment their effort more than anything. When students hear that they are smart all the time, they often do not strive to be better. It is better to compliment their effort and hard work.

I believe every single student needs to hear nice things. Students who are rowdy, disruptive, and often in trouble get the most attention in most situations. I was that quiet student who found school easy and earned 100% on every assignment. I was usually ignored by teachers. I will try my best to make sure this does not happen in my class. The quiet, hard workers deserve recognition too! Of course, those who have trouble following directions and learning about how to act will get attention and praise too. I know that students who are disruptive often want attention or to get out of doing their work. I will try my best to give the attention they crave and to make our classwork interesting and fun. I have high expectations for every student.

I want to create a safe environment where students feel like they belong. We a class of individuals, but we are also a family. Every student has something unique to bring to our family, and it is my job to let them shine. I will make sure every language, culture, ability, and personality is just as important as the next, and that we are a class of open-minded, accepting people.

I want to see every single student succeed! I will make sure that each student in my class feels safe, welcome, free to make mistakes, and loved. We will be honest, kind, and hardworking. We will laugh and learn. I will let each student know that I like him or her, and I will let them know that I want them there.
